He holds the patent on one of the sound industries most innovative technologies, the Acousta-Reed as well as four other patents in the field of software and electronics development. His background covers a variety of fields such as sound engineering, physco acoustics, electronics, computer design/engineering, computer programming as well as optical design & manufacturing. He has written computer software for some of the most prestigious corporations and people such as Zig Zigler, Humana Hospital, Intellisys Corporation and many others. His desire for knowledge of the universe, which he feels God has created for our pleasure and study, stems back to his childhood and continues today. Here is a picture of his observing helper!

About the Observatory:

In this day of computerized scopes and CCD imaging, you end up with a lot of equipment, wires, computers, connectors, etc.  After years of carry it out, spending two hours hooking it up, calibrating it and aligning it with the sky, then when your finished viewing for the night you reverse the whole process.   I knew if I was to ever continue in this field, something had to be done.   The ANSWER, an observatory!    Opening one shutter is sure easier and quicker than the above steps.    It took about 6 years to get it all worked out, but it's GREAT!

About the Software:

Daryl decided to develop OpticalBase 1.0 after grinding several mirrors and tiring from repeated calculations during testing. The source for the program was Jean Texereau's book, "How To Make A Telescope." With a simple Foucault tester and OpticalBase 1.0, one can know beyond question whether he/she has purchased the objective promised by the manufacturer or whether he/she has fashioned his/her own objective to perform to the very limit for its size and F/ratio. OpticalBase 1.0 includes pulldown/popup menus, full mouse support, popup calculator/calendar-diary, context-sensitive help, memo pads (for figuring notes, etc...), eyepiece calculator, secondary size & obstruction calculator. OpticalBase also includes full graphing support for Millies-Lacroix Envelope, Transverse Aberration and Wavefront Profile. You simply can't buy a more complete design and testing package.
